Solids!

Hannah had rice cereal today, her first solid! Babies don't typically eat much the first few times they are fed solids, but Hannah couldn't get enough - she is definitely her daddy's daughter! It was a messy evening, and we took a TON of pictures. I've posted a few below, and if you want to see them all go to: Hannah's Kodak Gallery Album.

Yum!

This is so fun, I can even feed myself

Pajama Time

Here are a few photos I snapped of Hannah in her pj's with the sun setting behind her. Goodnight Hannah!

Tub Time With Elmo

We got Hannah a new mat for the tub with Elmo. Here she is splashing during tub time.

One Week Down, 15+ to Go

Hannah has had her helmet for over a week now, and is adjusting well. Kids are amazing in what they will tolerate. We feel like we are already seeing a difference, but that's probably wishful thinking. I take her back to the orthotist on Friday, and I'm hoping they can adjust the fit so it doesn't keep sliding over her eyes. Because Hannah's flat spot is in the back and not on a side, it is more difficult to get a great fit - the helmet slides forward on her flat spot since there is nothing to hold it down.

We finally moved Hannah to a level 2 nipple (faster flow). Most babies are ready to switch at 3 months, but Hannah likes to take her time and enjoy every ounce I guess. It is so nice feeding her a bottle now because it takes half of the time with the 2. We are planning to introduce rice cereal this week - her first solid! Such a big girl... I'll post pictures of the mess she makes.

All Dressed Up

We went out to dinner with our friends Jennifer, David and their son Jake, so Hannah decided to dress up. This is the dress Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Mike bought for her in France. She's even wearing her hair bow in one of the pictures - she finally has enough hair for it to stay in, but it won't be getting much use with the helmet.

Hannah and Daddy in Helmets

Daddy showed Hannah that helmets are the coolest! Hannah thought he was pretty funny. So far, so good. I wish I was handling this transition as well as Hannah. One day down, 111 to go :(

Helmet : (

I'll post more pictures later... my mom sent this to me at work from her cell phone. Not the best quality, but you get the idea :(

Thank Goodness for Weekends

Jordan and I both had long work weeks, so it is great to finally get some family time! Hannah is just so fun these days. She cracks up when you fly her around the house like an airplane or just bounce her up and down. She also is REALLY jumping in her Jumperoo and thinks it is hilarious. She has had a few cranky days from teething, but I'm hoping she cuts her first tooth soon and things improve.

We are taking her to get her helmet this Tuesday - I hope she adjusts well. I feel so badly for her :(

More Hannah Photos at Five Months

Five Months Old!

Hannah is five months old today. Everyone tells you that they grow up too quickly, and they are right! She gets to be more fun and interactive each day, and it is really exciting to watch her learn new tricks:
  • Turning toward sounds
  • Grabbing objects and putting them right into her mouth
  • Transferring objects from one hand to the other
  • Rolling from stomach to back (well, once...)
  • Talking - especially at quiet restaurants for dinner
  • Splashing in the tub
  • Jumping in her Jumperoo with the help of a pillow
  • Playing in her ExerSaucer, she can even reach the ground now WITHOUT a pillow
  • Taking her binky out, and occasionally getting it back in on her own
  • Chewing EVERYTHING, and drooling EVERYWHERE

She Can Roll!

Hannah rolled over on her activity mat this morning! Hopefully she'll do it again once we are home so I can video tape it.

At the Beach

We went back to the beach on Lake Michigan today and Hannah loved playing in the sand. She did give me the pout lip when she realized she was hungry. We are planning to go back tomorrow, and may take her in the lake for a "swim."

Bye Bye Family, Hello Beach

Grandma Carolyn, Grandma Joanie, Aunt Steph and Uncle Mike left today and we are all lonely without them. Hannah would LOVE her Aunt Steph and Uncle Mike to move to Michigan so she can see them every day... Here is a shot of Hannah with Grandma Joanie from this morning:

After everyone left, the three of us headed to the beach for a walk along the water. Hannah seemed to enjoy it, despite the cold breeze off of Lake Michigan. We had a nice dinner at Funistrada - a quaint little Italian restaurant nearby. We are now home for the night resting up for Linde and Bryan to join us in the morning.

BBQ on Glen Lake

We went to Glen Lake to BBQ this afternoon and took some great family photos. We then headed to Traverse City for the Cherry Festival and dinner at Stella. Hannah talked through the entire meal - very loudly. I felt badly for the other diners, but they didn't seem to mind. Today the rest of the family leaves, so it's just me, Hannah and Jordan until Linde and Bryan join us tomorrow. We're planning to take a long walk on the beach and have a relaxing evening.

Relaxing in the Hammock

Up North

We are up north on Hannah's first vacation and she is having a great time! She slept the entire drive up, and had a great first night. She slept just like she does at home. We went to two vineyards for tastings today and she was sad they wouldn't let her have a taste. She chewed on the brochure instead.
