4D Ultrasound - 27 Weeks

We had our 4D ultrasound today, and got some incredible images. Baby B now weighs 2 lbs. 4 oz. and her heart rate was 148 - all within normal limits. I also had my glucose tolerance screening and will get my results back tomorrow. Keep your fingers crossed for me - how would I survive on a low sugar diet???

Bat Mitzvah Weekend

We had my cousin Nicole's bat mitzvah this weekend, and got some funny family photos. I'll be posting updated pictures of Baby B later today, we have our 4D ultrasound and glucose tolerance test. I can't wait to see her again!

Off to Florida

This has been such a hectic week, so unfortunately I have no pictures to post. I was in Atlanta for work Tuesday and Wednesday, and tomorrow we leave for Florida to help move Grandma Marsha for the season. Thankfully, flying hasn't been making me sick anymore. I go back to Florida for work Wednesday through Friday of next week and then I think I'm done with work trips until after the baby.

Baby update for week 26:

The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. She may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. She's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of her lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when she's born and takes that first gulp of air. And she's continuing to put on baby fat. She now weighs about a pound and two-thirds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel.

Baby's Room

Jordan and I hung the drapes in the baby's room today and they look great. I also finished the rocker, and we've settled on a name - Hannah Michelle Bolton. See below for updated pictures of the baby's room with her new rocking chair. Hopefully her furniture will be in soon.

My doctor's appointment went well last week. The baby's heart rate was 145 which is within the normal range. We scheduled the glucose tolerance test for the same day as the 4D ultrasound. Apparently you have to drink a really bad version of a smoothie - not really looking forward to it! Nothing else to report, everyhing is going well.

25 Down, 15 to Go

We're in week 25 and I'm feeling great. I'm in almost all maternity clothes now, and definitely getting a little bigger each day. Baby B must be getting strong because I can now see my stomach ripple every time she kicks. I had chili last night which is apparently a bad idea when you are recovering from the stomach flu. It was bothering her as much as me I guess, because she was wild. Jordan and I just sat and watched my belly all night. How crazy!

Baby update:
Head to heels, your baby now measures about 13 1/2 inches. Her weight — a pound and a half — isn't much more than an average rutabaga, but she's beginning to exchange her long, lean look for some baby fat. As she does, her wrinkled skin will begin to smooth out and she'll start to look more and more like a newborn. She's also growing more hair — and if you could see it, you'd now be able to discern its color and texture. (I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it's dark brown)

Again, a rutabaga? What does that even look like? I think the issue is that she always looks like a vegetable - a department where I lack sufficient knowledge...

I have a check-up today, and then go back again at the end of November for my 4D ultrasound. I can't wait to see her again! (And confirm that she really is a "she")

We're Sick : (

Baby B and I have our first, and hopefully last, flu of the season. I got the stomach flu Sunday night, and am just now starting to feel human again. It's tough not being able to medicate yourself. Oh well, she is worth it! Poor Jordan is coming down with it as we speak, so I get to make the switch from patient to caregiver now. Hopefully it will run its course quickly.

I did drag my butt out of bed to vote today - my mom picked me up and we went together. Thankfully, there was no line so I was back in bed within 30 minutes of leaving it.
