Blackman/Bolton Family Trip 2014

We had a wonderful time in South Haven with our immediate family of 23 on the Bolton/Blackman side.  Softa and Zaydie rented a fantastic house right on Lake Michigan with our own pool.  The lake was too cold, but the kids were in the pool for hours at a time (mine were sometimes naked... good thing we just potty trained Ella!).  Hannah swam completely on her own, jumping into the deep end with the big kids and swimming around from there.  Ella was equally bold, but not yet ready to swim solo.  She can go about 10-15 feet on her own already, and is an even bigger fish than Hannah was at 2.  She is fearless!  We also did a ton of art at a place called Express Yourself Art Barn.  Hannah made a mosaic mirror, 3 painted figurines and a beaded necklace.  She would have stayed all day if I had the funds to buy more projects!

Ella and I had a nice day at Nellis Dutch Village with Macy, Lilah and Aunt Sara.  The highlight was the carousel which Ella rode 4 times, the duck race where you pumped water to push the duck through tubes, and the petting farm.

We had nice family meals, naps (even Hannah!), walks, mani/pedis, campfires and bike rides.  All of the kids got along great, and Hannah and Ella actually slept!  We stayed an extra night because we were all having such a nice time - it was a great family weekend.  Thanks, Softa and Zaydie.

One Step Closer to Being Diaper Free

Ella decided she was ready to be potty trained, and it went pretty smoothly!

Friday: One #1 accident and one #2 accident
Saturday: Accident free (even spending an hour with a 12 year old sitter)!
Sunday: Daddy didn't have the skills of the 12 year old - one #1 accident

She seems to get it now, and has started asking to go potty,  We even walked into town for dinner and the park tonight, and she did great.  She is also diaper free at naps, and is attempting to go without a diaper overnight tonight.  Not sure how that will go, but guessing she will need diapers at night for a while.  So excited to be almost done with diapers!!!

Happy Birthday, Mina!

We had a wonderful time celebrating Mina's birthday, with Donut Cutter donuts for breakfast, homemade cards from the girls and dinner at the Japanese steakhouse.  Ella blew out Mina's birthday candles before we even finished singing, she was not going to miss her chance!

Frozen Recital

Hannah and her class did a Frozen recital at school today, complete with capes made by her teacher Karen, gloves, a stage, and choreography.  It was really adorable - they have a lot of Frozen loving girls in that class!  They had a singer from the Broadway musical, Sister Act, come in last week to sing with them and help them prepare.  They nailed it and even got a standing ovation!  Impressive performance for 3-5 year olds.  Videos are fuzzy because I had to brighten substantially so you could see them in the dark "theater" (big dome).

One Man's Treasure is Another Man's Trash

I found this big canvas next to the trash at work and brought it home for my little artist.  Hannah and I had a blast painting together.
