Nate's 3rd Birthday
We celebrated Nate's 3rd birthday at Chuck E Cheese tonight, and both girls had a blast. Ella had to be pryed off every ride because she wanted to go again. Hannah had a great time dancing with Macy, eating ice cream, and even trying to conquer her fear of Chuck E Cheese - she stood near him for a picture and was so proud. She told me that when she is 4, she will hug him. Happy Birthday, Nate!

Good Samaritan
Hannah and Softa baked cookies and cupcakes, and then Hannah asked Softa if they could take them to the police officers. So, they loaded up and went to the police station, and they were so thankful that they gave Hannah a cool police badge pin. When they got home, Hannah was so proud that it was all her idea and she has been proudly wearing her pin on her coat. She cracks me up!
Trick or Treat 2012
The girls had a great Halloween! Ella started the morning by raiding the pantry disguised as a butterfly - maybe she thought we wouldn't recognize her? She emptied out all of her nutrigrain bars, some cereal boxes, and best of all, a container of oatmeal. Hannah was a big helper and vacummed it up, and then we headed to the parade at school, where Mina, Softa, Mommy, Daddy, Unky Mike, Aunt Sara and Unky Ian were all there. Ella rode in her red car and was all smiles! Hannah walked with her friends and then talked Softa into carrying her. After school, Jordan took Hannah to the Hays' for Halloween dinner and Trick or Treating with Charli, Brooke, Kendyl and Josephine. Stef let each girl make their own pizza in Halloween shapes. They then headed out to Trick or Treat.
Unfortunately, Ella and I stayed home because I wasn't feeling well. Mina and Reese came over to help us hand out candy, but since Ella missed her afternoon nap at school, she was asleep before our first Trick or Treaters even came! Hopefully next year we can all trick or treat together.

Goodbye Mina, Hello Aunt Steph and Unky Mike
After four months of living with us, Mina moved into her new house this weekend. Hannah took it better than expected, and is so excited for future sleepovers. We will definitely miss having Mina with us, but I think Mina is excited for some peace and quiet!
Even though we were sad to see Mina move out, it was an exciting weekend because Aunt Steph and Unky Mike made a last minute trip into town to watch the Tigers in the World Series. Hannah loved her time with them, especially ice cream and pumpkin carving. Even Ella who is normally pretty shy around people she doesn't see often warmed up really quickly. She practiced walking a lot to show off for her aunt and unky. She is so close! She has taken up to 7 steps, but when she gets near the person she is walking to, she prematurely dives towards them.
Hannah and I played in the basement this weekend, and she picked up an old alphabet book that I haven't see in years. I was so impressed with how many of the letters she now recognizes. Preschool is an amazing thing! She can also write all of the letters in her name, B for Bolton, E for Ella and R for Rebecca.

Goodbye, Sweet Sadie
We had a sad end to our weekend when Sadie fell down the stairs this morning and tore all of the ligaments in her knee. After not wanting to walk around for most of the day, Jordan and I decided it was time to euthanize Sadie. We took her to the emergency vet in hopes that there was something they could do to make her comfortable and buy us some more time, but that was when they told us she tore the ligaments in her knee and felt euthanasia was the most humane option. Sadie had been struggling on the wood floors and stairs for the past few months, and we knew our time with her was coming to an end. It was still so sad to have to say goodbye.
Ella was completely oblivious, and even Hannah seems pretty unaffected by losing Sadie. She asked why I was crying before we left for the vet, and I told her Sadie probably wouldn't be there when she woke up, and that I was really going to miss her. She responded that we can just get another dog. When we got back from the vet, she started laughing when she saw me crying. I asked her why, and she told me that big people don't cry... I'm thankful that she doesn't understand, but sad that she won't really remember our sweet Sadie.
Sadie was such a wonderful girl, and I feel so lucky that we had her in our lives for the past 4.5 years. She will be missed each and every day.
