We had a wonderful visit with Aunt Steph and Unky Mike in NYC!
On Friday, we went to a park with the biggest sandbox I've ever seen - Hannah was in heaven. It even had a little water fountain in it so you could make mud. Hannah was a mess!
Saturday morning, we took the choo choo train (AKA the subway) to the Central Park Zoo and Hannah again loved feeding the sheep and alpaca at the children's zoo. She also got her first airbrush tattoo of a penguin. She was nervous at first about the airbrush, but walked around the zoo with her shirt up proudly showing off her tummy tattoo.
After nap on Saturday, Unky Mike gave Hannah a Special Agent Oso shirt he made her and she was so excited! She insisted on wearing it immediately. Once she was changed into her Oso shirt, we went to Tribeca to a great park built out onto a pier on the Hudson River. There was a huge sprinkler park, another big sandbox, swings and they even had a miniature golf course right on the water. Unfortunately, we had no swimsuit for Hannah, so she went into the sprinkler park with all of her clothes on. Thankfully we had packed an extra outfit. By the time Hannah finished in the sandbox and sprinklers, there was only time for a quick swing with Mina and Aunt Steph, and then we had a nice dinner outside right by the water. From there, we headed to Butter Lane for the most delicious cupcakes. By the time we got home, it was pretty late, but Hannah was a trooper!
Sunday we visited the Natural History Museum, and Hannah was definitely cranky after a late night at Butter Lane. We did have a few fun moments despite her mood. She loved the "train" ride to get there, and the astronaut ice cream daddy bought at the gift shop was a big hit! She was also very interested in the early hominid exhibit. The re-creations of early hominids had all of the parts, and Hannah certainly noticed! We looked like a bunch of teenagers cracking up every time she would point and say 'PENIS." Other museum visitors seemed to agree that a two year old pointing at a male hominid shouting penis was hilarious - at least it wasn't just us...
We are now back in Michigan, and celebrated the remainder of Memorial Day playing in the sprinklers in our backyard. Thank goodness it is a short week, because I am exhausted!
